States of Australia Cruise Overview

Australia – the land of plenty, rugged coastlines, lush green valleys, dry, golden plains and the biggest coral reef in the world.

The city of Perth in Western Australia is named after Perth in Scotland and is the largest city in the state. Famous for its beautiful soft-sand beaches and a relaxed pace, you’ll fall in love with this capital. Enjoy three days exploring this thriving metropolis, see Kings Park which offers views of the skyline and Swan River, and head over to Freemantle to sample the vibrant port town, full of colonial-era streets and a colourful history. Spend the day on Rottnest Island, 11 miles off the coast from Perth, a car-free island boasting more than 60 beaches and home to the friendly quokka, a marsupial found only in Western Australia.

You’ll set sail on a voyage around West and South Australia, visiting five of the seven states of this amazing country, all bursting with culture and history, and many producing world-famous wines. The 11-day cruise takes you to some of the lesser well-known, but beautiful cites. Albany, steeped in Aboriginal history, the city marks the spot where the first European settlers set foot in Western Australia. You can pay tribute to the Australian and New Zealand forces who served in World War I at the award-winning National Anzac Centre, overlooking the harbour from where over 40,000 men and woman left to go to war.

Adelaide, a melting pot of flavours, events and art, has a Mediterranean climate, ideal for growing grapes in.  This is the wine capital of Australia, one of the nine ‘Great Wine Capitals of the World’. Home to the Barossa Valley, the McLaren Vale, Penfolds to name just a few of the superb vineyards, a day spent learning about the different grapes and wine-tasting is not to be missed.

Burnie, Tasmania’s most westerly city, once famous for paper production, is now a vibrant city located on a stunning stretch of the island’s north-west coast. The surrounding landscape is rich in rainforest, grasslands and wildlife, including Tasmania devils, platypus and different bird species. A visit to Cradle Mountain, a natural attraction with wonderful nature walks, can be done in a day when you dock here.

Also on the voyage are calls to the popular cities on most peoples list of places to see - Melbourne, Hobart and Sydney. Tick off the states of Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, and New South Wales.

After you disembark the Sea Princess in Sydney you spend three days in this gleaming city, where there is so much to see; catch a performance at the iconic Opera House, climb the Harbour Bridge, or maybe head out west to the Blue Mountains, a rugged wilderness, famous for its rock formation called the Three Sisters.
