This morning visit the historic Asakusa area. This is one of the older and more traditional parts of Tokyo and is often called the temple district. Here you can stop by Senso-ji, the city’s oldest temple – founded almost 1,400 years ago when Tokyo was nothing more than a fishing village.
Then head to the Japanese Alps aboard some regional trains to the onsen town of Yudanaka (around a 3.5 hour journey). Here you can try both the public onsen spas of this historical town, as well as those in your accommodation. During your two nights stay you will also stay in a Japanese traditional inn with Japanese futon bedding and tatami mats and enjoy the dinner of local produce – a quintessential Japanese experience!

Today, pay a visit to the Snow Monkey Park, where a community of snow monkeys reside. In the colder winter months, snow monkeys dip into the natural onsen pools to warm and clean themselves.
