Why visit Villefranche ?

Villefranche location iamge - CruiseDirection

A small beach resort

A secluded but fascinating tourist destination

Except for those on tight budgets, Villefranche’s restaurants treat visitors to excellent meals and fantastic service. Popular among them are Le Cosmo, Les Palmiers, Café dell Arte and La Serre. However, take time to search for affordable restaurants deep into the town as the ones on the waterfront are quite pricey.

Villefranche’s coarse sandy beaches are enough to make every bit of your stay a memorable one. Just some distance from Nice are Villefranche’s best beaches, which are wonderful to relax on. During the summer holidays the beaches are usually crowded with tourists, but at other times these beaches are the best places for romantic gateways. You could also try a spot of snorkelling; take boat trips and even city and beach tours in order to explore Villefranche’s treasures to the fullest.

Villefranche is a marvellous town with lots of great cafés and a handful of fun shops. It might interest you to know that this old town is quite compact and everything is situated within close walking distance. Its port provides the perfect atmosphere for strolling around and unwinding.

Likened to other neighbouring resort towns of Cannes, Monaco and Nice, the romantic, historic community of Villefranche is however much lovelier and much quieter. Take your chance to appreciate this ancient town by visiting sights such as the Chapelle St-Pierre, an old Romanesque chapel with paintings by artist Jean Cocteau; the Citadelle (Fort Sainte Elme), a 16th century park that houses public gardens; museums; the city hall and the soap factory.

Why not rent a car to explore the nearby cities of Nice, Cannes and Monaco. You’ll find a car rental service at the airport terminal or the port of Hertz in Beaulieu-sue-mer. Feel free to hire cab drivers if you do not want to drive. How about touring the whole diminutive community on foot? In doing so, be sure to make a stop at Saint Jean-Cap Ferrat as well as the Plage de Passable on the western shore. Simply enjoy the life of the Villefranche people by spending time in the café-lined port, the circa 1912 belle epoque style villa, the Lighthouse and the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, to mention a few.

Book your next holiday to Villefranche to see these things for yourself!
