Situated on the Mississippi river in southwestern Tennessee, Memphis is the largest city located along the river and the second largest in the state.

Memphis attracts music lovers and foodies from around the world almost like religious sites attract pilgrims. Historical Memphis was one of the largest cities in the Antebellum South prominent in the sale of Lumber and the American Slave trade. After the America civil war in 1865 the city grew exponentially and became a world leading trader of lumber and also cotton.

Memphis also played an integral role in the America civil rights movement and was where the prominent activist Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968. Today, Memphis is home to the National Civil Rights Museum.
