Honduras

Honduras would seem to have it all, pristine beaches, clear turquoise waters, fascinating ruins to explore, challenging rivers to raft and lush jungles to hike. It’s a relatively undeveloped region that offers much to do and all at prices far below what you might expect to pay in better-known resort areas.

While in Honduras you can go river rafting, take scuba tours and hike the breathtaking mountains. You will also discover the unique brand of Honduran hospitality, which lets you know that you are a welcome visitor.

Honduras is best known for its eco-tourism opportunities. It’s a vibrant country that Mother Nature has been very kind to. In fact, everywhere you turn, you can see examples of her handiwork, whether it’s the lush jungles or the majestic mountains, the pristine rivers or the deep blue of the ocean. There is truly something here to please everyone.

Why visit Honduras ?

Honduras would seem to have it all

Pristine beaches, clear turquoise waters, fascinating ruins to explore, challenging rivers to raft and lush jungles to hike

Why not kick the day off with an organised scuba dive to explore the colourful ecosystems beneath the ocean? Then take a trip out to the Mayan ruins and Mosquito Coast. Finally, when the sun sets, there’s dancing until the wee hours of the morning, with lots of clubs and restaurants offering a range of live music.

Honduran nightlife can go on until sunrise, as the local people enjoy life to the fullest. They have many celebrations and town fairs held throughout the year, for a variety of occasions. Most of these festivals and street fairs occur between the months of February and August.

There are plenty of places to stay in Honduras. Depending on your budget, you can choose a resort property right on the beach or a bed and breakfast at a more reasonable price. You might even choose to rent a luxury villa right on the beach at the La Ensenada Beach Villas and Resort.

Roatan, the port city, is on its way to being one of the leading ports of call on the cruise ship circuit, since Royal Caribbean began work to expand the current dock and build an all-purpose passenger terminal. Carnival Cruise Lines will also build their own separate terminal and this influx of activity will surely affect other areas of the Honduran tourist trade. These shipping companies will need to develop tours and other activities to keep their passengers entertained while visiting the country and local tour operators are expected to benefit greatly from this expansion. The flurry of building activity, when combined with more luxury resort properties being developed, seem certain to put Honduras on the map as one of the premier tourist destinations in the world.

The entire region of Honduras has a pleasant slow pace, the people are friendly and always welcoming and the environment is casual. It’s a great place for tourists who want to get off the beaten track and experience a place altogether different from the usual Caribbean holiday destination. Because Honduras is still in its growing stage, it’s not overly crowded with tourists and can offer a truly unique travel alternative, especially for those interested in eco-travel adventures.
